“It’s getting late. The anesthesiologist & I are going home. If you don’t choose a cesarean now… & something happens to your baby during the night, no one will be here to save you.” -OB encouraging mother to consent to a cesarean even though both mother and baby were stable.

“I just get the feeling about some women, and I just got the feeling you would need a cesarean.” -CNM speaking to client who had originally planned an out of hospital birth, after a two day labor and stalling at 9.5 cm dilation, prior to surgery.

“Either we give you pitocin or we give you an epidural for a c-section” -OB threatened to mother.

The father of the baby commented after the OB left the room, “It’s like they think women are fruit… they’re either pitted or sectioned!”
