“I’m not concerned that you’re not getting pregnant yet, or that your cycle hasn’t returned regularly, given he’s still nursing so much. “Why didn’t you get an IV? You should have had an IV. Then I wouldn’t have to do this.” – OB to mother while administering an intramuscular shot of pitocin due to heavy bleeding, right after applying heavy umbilical cord traction to deliver the placenta.

“The doctor doesn’t know anything about that condition, so you’re going to have to labor in bed. He said you’re only to get up to use the bathroom.” – L&D Nurse on behalf of an OB, to mother with an unusual non-pregnancy medical condition that did not present additional risk for her or the baby during labor or birth.

“If you don’t get an epidural, you’re really going to screw up my day! I have 4 “gyne” surgeries scheduled today and you have to wait for me to be here to push! If I can’t make it to the delivery then I won’t be held responsible if something bad happens.” – OB to mother being induced with her 4th baby. The mother has a history of fast labors. The mother stated that she did not want an epidural.
