“We will let you labor on your own as long as possible, because with people of your size, we have difficulties getting an epidural in, and if you need a cesarean section,  you might be going under.”  - OB to mother at a prenatal.

This would make it easier on her and I.  You don’t have a say.” – OB to father when father declined an epidural for the mother who was working through intense contractions at the same time as she was being asked questions.

“Everyone says that they don’t want an epidural and they get one anyway.  Just sign the form.” – L&D Nurse while asking mother to sign consent forms on admittance, including consent for an epidural, when mother was planning on birthing without one.
