“Formula is just as good as breast milk.”  -NICU nurse to mother of baby in NICU who was inadvertently fed formula instead of the expressed breast milk in the fridge.

“I don’t like the looks of them.  You will never breastfeed.” – Lactation consultant to mother, helping her breastfeed 12 hours after birth.  Mother went on to breastfeed exclusively for 12 months.

Thoughtful Thursday! “Don’t Let Them Bully You.”

“Don’t let them bully you.”  – OB on the morning following a cesarean warning me about the hospital nurses and staff who would likely try to get me to use formula because my newborn would lose weight before my milk came in.  He explained that it is normal and safe for a newborn to lose a certain percentage of their birth weight and that it was no indication for formula feeding.
