“…You Can’t Keep It In, It Has To Come Out…!”
Conversation during the delivery of the placenta:
Mother: “I want to keep it.”
OB: “What?!”
Mother: “I want to keep it.”
OB: “But you can’t.”
Mom: “But it is mine.”
OB: “You can’t keep it in, it has to come out!”
Mom: “No I wanna take it home with me, AFTER it is out.”
OB: “Oh, that makes a lot more sense! I’ve never had someone ask that but whatever.”
Yeah, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m thinking this was sent in for being LOL worthy.
It’s not really weird that the OB had never gotten that request before, not THAT many people are interested in keeping their placenta, and I’d wager that most of them see midwives.
And although I’m not a big fan of OBs telling patients they can’t do something….. well she really can’t keep it in, LOL. Either it’ll come out on its own or it’ll kill her. I can just imagine the total confusion of this doctor. LMAO.

I was the doula for this. We were all cracking up at this misunderstanding afterwards.

I imagine the doctor later on thinking, “What on earth just happened…?”
Very funny.

Lol, thanks for the giggle! I let all three shifts during labor know I was keeping it, and the nurse there when I delivered was really sweet and it never left the room. She sent someone for ice, and put it right on ice for me
She said she gets that request all the time…. apparently military men like hippie women!

Yay! A regular submission that isn’t horrifying… just bizarre!

There are plenty submitted here that I think were submitted because of the lulz factor, not because it was offensive to the OP, but then people respond so outragedly that I think other people go “oh it must be offensive!” because that’s the first go-to response. Hard to tell sometimes!
This one is pretty hilarious though, rofl.
