I don’t see what’s wrong with this statement. Maybe context/attitude/etc?

Considering that the mother probably didn’t bring the rocking chair with her from home, we can draw one of two conclusions:

1) the OB spends zero time in the hospital and never sees mothers laboring

2) the hospital all but forces women into bed during labor

Right? If every maternity room has a rocking chair, the OB should see mothers using the rocking chairs, even if they’re on their knees and resting their head on the seat to rock laterally during contractions.

This one isn’t offensive, so much as sad.

Thankfully, my hospital had rocking chairs and birthing balls in every L/D room. With my first 2 labors, I had to be standing during contractions (sitting or laying down made the pain 100 times worse.)
But with my third, I was so thankful for that rocking chair! I labored all night and sat and rocked the whole time. I kept thinking, “this should hurt more.” lol. I was right because in the morning found out I didn’t make make progress. I was thankful that I wasn’t on my feet the whole night!

Anyway, back on topic:
Yay for the op’s hospital having them there. Boo for the OB not having a clue why.

Uh, the bed and the rocking chair are not my only two options.

Just so you know.

While I did a home birth, I spent most of early labor in our rocking chair because it was the most comfortable for my back labor.

Hm, I’m *just* a doula, and I’ve seen more ‘rocking chair births’ than the almighty doc. Interesting. Sad. He’s seen more sections than me, though. I guess that’s the nature of my job, and the nature of his. Maybe that should tell us something??

On the surface, I don’t have a problem with this one. Sounds like the doctor is maybe caught off guard and just remarking on what they find unusual? Maybe this is one of those that isn’t bad as much as a little amusing. I do find it rather sad, though!

I’m not sure I’m seeing the problem with this one. As it’s stated, it’s just a fact. I’ve never seen a kangaroo in it’s natural environment. But that’s not say they don’t exist or that I’m odd for not having seen one. It’s just a simple fact.

(I could be misunderstanding this one, so help me if I am.)
