Women bleed after birth. Broken skin bleeds. Something tells me this midwife needs to quiet the complaining and focus on her job. If the bleeding is that darn heavy she doesn’t need to be worrying about repairing a tear!

Show me one woman who hasn’t bled post-birth…just one, I beg you.

…midwife, get used to it. That’s your job. Women bleed after birth, and sometimes they tear and you have to repair it. Got that? Don’t like it…find another line of work.

midwife: “If You Weren’t Bleeding So Much This Would Be Easier.”
mother: “oh I am sorry if my birth is an inconvenience to you”.

If anything she should have comforted the mom not tell her to shove it.

Oh, I’m SO sorry!! Here, let me stop my heart for the next ten minutes while you sew me up so my blood won’t be in the way.

If I weren’t bleeding so much, a LOT of things would be easier!

I’m trying to think of an activity that’s not made easier by the absence of excessive bleeding, and I’m not coming up with much . . .

Sounds like someone’s looking for an excuse to explain why she didn’t do a good or fast stitch job. I hope that’s not what it is, but I see no other purpose to this comment.

I think I would want my midwife focused on why I was bleed so much. Maybe the tear can wait?

Sometimes the bleeding is *from* the tear.
And I like the knob idea. I never realized what it was for, either. What else does it do?

Oh, if ONLY they hadn’t cut the cord! …then the mother’s blood could be flowing into the baby instead of getting in the midwife’s way.

Oh, for pity’s sake! Seriously? Get over yourself, midwife! Birth involves blood. If you haven’t figured that out by now, you’re not doing something right!

I read this site because I aspire to be a midwife, and I think it’s important to know that many of my future colleagues can be just as rude and inappropriate as any doctor/midwife/nurse on this site. And God help me if I EVER treat anyone this poorly.

Excuse me, I’m sorry sir or mam, if you could just quit bleeding so I can put this tourniquet it would be a lot better, I’m sure she had control over the amount of bleeding was going on. It amazes me, just amazes me.
