Thoughtful Thursday! “I’m Not Giving You A Cesarean Section Now…!”

“I’m not giving you a cesarean section now! You are doing great and nearly done!!” – OB to mother after her baby had crowned for 45 minutes and had not yet been born yet.

Dislike these words.

Crowning for 45 minutes? I think I’d be begging for SOMETHING to change lol. That moment is as intense for me as transition. With both my births it was two contractions at most. 45 minutes?

OP, you are a superhero. Seriously, you deserve a huge blue ribbon for that.

Aw, that is great to hear. I love to hear about care providers who are encouraging! My first baby crowned for-EV-er too. Turns out she had a compound presentation – little fist by her cheek. How about your baby?

this was mine, it was my first birth and the OB walked in and watched for a minute and through TWO contractions of “he’s almost crowning!” so I screamed at him to “for the love of GOD JUST CUT ME ALREADY!” I meant the episiotomy. he still made me push for 5 more minutes before conceding that I was definitely going to tear…and cutting the episiotomy. my son was 9lbs 10oz and posterior. he also ripped me inside.
