“…Don’t Tell Me You’re Going To Start Crying Too…?”
“Oh no, don’t tell me you’re going to start crying too? You know, I had a woman in labor today who was crying!” – OB/GYN to woman during a very painful pelvic exam.
Good morning, doctor, women, and people in general, cry for different reasons throughout their lives. Crying can be due to pain or an emotional release. What is wrong with coming across two women crying in a day? Labor is emotional as well as painful, and your pelvic exam was clearly painful. What’s the big deal?
Heartless jerk.

They must teach this on day one of OB/GYN school. If a woman starts crying or complains of discomfort there are a range of options
a. tell her she isnt in pain
b. tell her to stop crying
c. tell her if she doesnt relax you’ll HAVE to force it
Any other ideas…Bueller, Bueller?

Epidural! Epidural in labor, epidural at appointments, epidural at home while recovering. Baby won’t latch? Epidural! Someone else will feed the baby formula and you can rest!

Um, perhaps it’s YOU, then, doctor!

Women behave differently when they’re in labor. Imagine that.
