This is mine, I had a non-emergent transfer and was getting ready to go home just waiting for paperwork to be done. One of the residents came in and said this to me as she was leaving her shift. It made me feel so good.

Forgot to add, even though I didn’t homebirth with this baby I still ended up with a drug free VBAC that was very healing. Our next baby was born at home.

My doctor (family practice, I don’t do OBs) has had her two children in our local birth center and at home. Makes me love her even more!

Oh my goodness, I so wish this OB resident took care of me! I arrived at the ER while hemorrhaging during a miscarriage (I lost 40% of my blood and my body was in shock) and the resident and one of the nurses (at separate times) literally lectured me about how I had been planning a homebirth with a previous c/s (I had also already had a natural hospital VBAC). The resident said “Homebirth is such a bad idea! I personally know a patient who was close to death because she tried to VBAC at home! It is irresponsible!” I was like- seriously? you’re going to lecture me about homebirth now when I’m bleeding to death and just lost my baby? thanks… thanks a lot, jerk!

Anyway… I’m SO SO SO glad you had a positive experience, OP! And that you got your healing VBAC! (WOO!!!)

Hopefully both of us will have peaceful homebirths next time!
