Thoughtful Thursday! “I Promise Not To Put My Fingers In Your Body Without Permission…”
“I promise not to put my fingers in your body without permission if you promise not to put your fingers in mine.” – OB to mother who stated that she would prefer not to have cervical exams.
This is mine. I love my OB he is so awesome. Before I went to see him for my first pregnancy I was seeing my GP and she kept telling me that my lack of period for 6 months was fine. After doing some research I suspected PCOS and a refrained referred me to this Dr. He acknowledged that not having a cycle for 6 months was not OK and he looked at some at my previous test results and confirmed the PCOS with that and an US. He used the latest treatments to help me get pregnant which happened my first round of Femara.
He was always so caring. Once he said that he could see the heartbeat on the Doppler but since I couldn’t hear it he wanted to drag out the US machine because he know I would worry until my next appointment. That also happened with my second pregnancy at 17 weeks when he tried and tried and tried to find the HB the whole time he was saying not to worry not to worry and he got out the US machine and there she was pressed up against my spine with her little heart beating away.
My first labor ended in a c section. My DS was having significant distress. My OB told me that he did not want me to have a c section if at all possible but unfortunately it was not. He tried everything to avoid it but it just wasn’t in the cards. He used a pain pump in order to make my recovery easier. I was out of bed and taking care of my baby within a few hours. I did have a series of complications after leaving the hospital that took 10 weeks to fully heal. He was there all the way and was never annoyed when I was in his office everyday for a week.
With my second I was also having a c section and I discussed a lit of things I wanted to make the experience better for me me. No steri strips, I wanted to watch my baby be born, I want to see her all goopy and gross right after birth, and there was one more but I can’t remember it right mown. I did get every single request. I have pictures the nurses took during the c section and I love them. I loved seeing my daughter all purple and gross and even holding her seconds after she was born. Those were things I didn’t get with my son.
I have been so grateful to my OB for always listening to me and treating me with respect and helping me with whatever issue was concerning me. He has never once blown me off and made me feel like a valued patient.

Docs like that are worth their weight in gold. I hope you recommend him to all your friends and get the word out!

God I wish my OB was like this. Mine decided it’s better to sexually assault me than to listen to my wishes about not having further exams after hitting 10cm and starting to push.
I’m fighting her at the medical board and found out that she has now lost her hospital privileges due to harming a baby. Had the stupid board not taken so long with my complaint maybe she wouldn’t have harmed that baby.

LOL! Okay, **THAT** is awesome! Doctor not only respects a mom’s wishes but is giving a very funny acknowledgment that the cervical exam itself is somewhat gross and invasive. Thank you to whomever submitted this!
