Thoughtful Thursday! “…We Can Wait As Long As You Like As Long As The Baby Is Not Under Stress.”
“I feel that you won’t be getting any further, no matter how long you labor for. But, if you would like to wait a while longer before we opt for a cesarean section, that is completely okay. This is your labor and delivery, your child. We can wait as long as you like as long as the baby is not under stress.” – OB to mother who had not had any cervical change throughout her labor.
This is also my submission. He, my OB did let me wait, but we still ended in c-section. It was 9:30 pm when he came in my room and said this. When I was checked at 11 pm I was still at a 3. I decided I wasn’t going anywhere. It was hard to make that decision, as I wanted to go vaginal badly. But my baby girl is here, safe and healthy 6 months later. That was all I wanted and I couldn’t be happier

Is it thoughtful to say ” i feel you won’t be gettibg any further”. Labor can take days. It’s the idiotin way ob’s are trained that make them unaware about this

Or, the doctor actually thought the labor wasn’t going to progress. Labors *do* actually stall sometimes for various reasons. And, it’s kind of the doctor’s job to give their opinion.
Props to this one for giving his opinion, and then letting the patient decide the course of action.
Also, wording is everything. “Your labor isn’t going to progress. You need a c-section. *insert dead baby card*”- How many times have we seen something like *that* on here?
And, maybe it was the “we can wait…” part that made it thoughtful…Because, seriously, how often do we see that on here, where the mother is allowed to make her own decision?

Hopefully the OB kept his/her word. I’m going to guess since it’s posted on Thursday it was. I wonder, after this was said was the OP able to progress?
