Thoughtful Thursday! “…My Patient Is Unhappy & I Am Going To Make Her Happy Before You Continue…”
“You can wait, my patient is unhappy and I am going to make her happy before you continue. She comes first, if she is stressed, the baby could be stressed. You will wait.” – L&D nurse asking the Anesthesiologist to wait, when the mother became concerned that she could no longer hear the baby’s heartbeat and the nurse needed time to reposition the monitor.
WOW! WTG! SO awesome to hear this. I LOVE Thursday’s!

This was my nurse. I got to spend all 3 days of my hospital stay with her. She was amazing. She was worried about me and Jercey (my now 6 month old baby girl) because I had 2 panic attacks before getting the epidural. If I have my next baby in the same hospital, I hope she is my nurse again

I love this. How long does it take to reposition a monitor? Sixty seconds? How long does it take to place an epidural? Fifteen minutes?
Unless the anesthesiologist was needed in the OR **rightthissecond** why couldn’t s/he wait for the nurse to reposition the monitor? Probably by the time she was done saying this, the heartbeat would have been back on the screen.

Some, not all, anesthesiologists are not patient. This nurse had steel balls to say all of that to him/her! AWESOME!

Dislike these words.

It rakes some serious balls/ovaries to stand up to an impatient physician. Way to go, Nurse!
