“Oh, I am not delivering your baby. You are. I’ll only be there in case you need some assistance.” – OB to mother prior to birth.
That is awesome! Reminds me of my labor with my second. It was fast and furious, and by the time I got to the hospital, I couldn’t keep myself from pushing any longer, the urge was too strong. The triage nurse yelled at me not to push because “I can’t deliver your baby!” I yelled back, “You’re not!! I AM!” I gave birth a minute later.
She would have had a little more time for someone else to get there if she would have put the phone down when I got there instead of telling me to “calm down” my heavy breathing (I was having intense contractions) and assuming I was just being an overdramatic first time mom (I heard her say that on the phone… Yeah.)

I had been looking for a doctor for a natural delivery forever – I wanted to go natural (and even at home, if possible), but as a first timer, I did want a doctor there, just in case. I was already losing hope (and reaching my 27th week) when I found her.
I walked into her office and we started talking, and I asked her about what she did when she delivered babies and that is what she replied. And the moment she said that, I could have cried, I was so relieved! I knew I had found my doc!
And I did need her in the end, even though I was able to deliver my baby – I got my waterbirth in spite of having been induced due to really high blood pressure at almost 42 weeks – and my husband caught her.
I am positive that if it had been someone else I would have probably ended up with a c-section.
She rocks!
