“Stop being A Baby And Push.”
“Stop being a baby and push.” – OB to mother who was crying during her pushing phase.
You know, I just gave birth yesterday morning) my 4th unmedicated hospital birth!) and I cried pretty much for a hour straight, through transition and pushing. I’m gladys nurses and the OB were all supportive and compassionate. They gave me encouragement, not ridicule, and it was what I needed to get through it. Take a page out of their book, doc.

I had my baby 5 days ago and I totally broke down at one point in my labor and just cried. It was so overwhelming and it felt so good to get that out. My doula and husband just supported me

I really dislike how people equate crying with “being a baby”. Crying is a healthy reaction to a variety of things. Labour and birth is full of many physical (pain, exhaustion, hormonal changes) and emotional circumstances that can case crying.
If a client of mine starts to cry, I encourage her to let it happen and just release what it is that is making her need to cry. (of course if she is sobbing uncontrollably, I would help her to calm down) Suppressing that need to release can cause more issues than just letting it happen.
To the OP, I am sorry your doctor was an insensitive jerk.

I’m not a baby, doc. I’m *pushing* a baby out from a relatively small and nerve rich opening. You try that without making some noise and then get back to me, K?
