I’ve had three babies with nurses in the room. One was NOT AT ALL paying attention, so baby bounced on the bed. 2nd birth like this, two nurses caught the baby and were very fun…even said they were arguing before I came in over who would catch the baby. Third time I had a horrible mean nursie who said, “I don’t catch babies.” She didn’t, but another one did. Glad you had a nice nurse that didn’t worry if you had your baby before the doc could get there.

I wish I heard this more. Usually it is “honey, don’t push! The doctor isn’t here yet.” I love it when the mom non-verbally says “Too bad. I’m pushing”.

Catching is best (and easiest) part! Couldn’t be an LD nurse, would never call the docs in time!!

I have caught quite a few babies in my years as a nurse. I never tell a mom to stop pushing to wait for the doc. If she’s pushing involuntarily, and the baby is coming, time to glove up and catch! My most favorite part
