“I’d Like To Check Your Cervix And Break Your Water At Your 38 Week Appointment…”
“I’d like to check your cervix and break your water at your 38 week appointment because I think you will have another big baby.”
Holy cow, runnnnnn away as fast as you can waddle! I know of a primip who had her water broken a day after 39W. Hours and hours later they “had” to do a cesarean because the baby was stressed. What the heck happened to letting the BABY decide when it’s time to be born?

Wow, whatever happened to informed consent?
What happens if my cervix is not favorable?
What happens if my baby’s head is not engaged?
What if I don’t go into labor after my water is broken?
What if my baby isn’t as big as you say it is?
So many questions, so few answers.

Excuse Me? And what exactly do you plan on doing 24 hours after that? I’m waiting for an answer!!!
My goodness if he at least said if your cervix looks favorable we will strip your membranes. But break your water? Is he out of his mind? RUN

This is mine. He is a wonderful OB, loves the homebirth midwives, but he was totally freaking out on me because I had GD with my son and he was 9lb 15oz and he got stuck for 5 minutes with his head out. I am now Type 2 diabetic and tightly controlled and had ultrasounds to ensure she wasn’t growing too fast. He himself predicted my daughter was going to be 8 to 8.5lbs at 40 weeks. I wasn’t worried, my midwife wasn’t worried and neither was my endocrinologist. He just all of a sudden started freaking out. Some commented and I did exactly that and told him no vaginal from here on out. LOL!! My daughter was born at 40weeks 1 day and was 9lbs 2oz after just 30 minutes of pushing compared to 4 hrs of pushing and shoulder distocia.
