“…My G*D D*mm Garage Door…”
“…My g*d d*mm garage door, and then I had to take my car out in this f***king rain. Do we have the vaccum? Go get the vaccum, we’ll probably need it!” – OB as the OB entered the room to meet a laboring mother for the first time.
Sooo sorry to be of an inconvenience to you. If it was so much trouble, why didn’t you just stay home? you didn’t want to be here and I don’t want you here. Goodbye!

Dear Doctor,
Stop. Take a deep breath. Remember that you are walking into a room of excited and vulnerable people. This is the only time they will birth this baby. Is this the memory you want to leave them with? Apologize. Tell them how glad you are to be a part of this special event. Tell them how you are honoured to be here. Save the drama for YOUR mama – not the one who is looking to you to be gentle, reassuring and caring.
Thank you,
Birthing Women Everywhere

So you’ll probably need the Mighty Vac because you are so angry about your garage door and the weather?
Unfortunately, this is probably accurate, with Doctor Rantypants in the room. I wish Sphincter Law were in all the major obstetrics textbooks.

This guy was a terror. I am guessing he is the L&D ladies man because as my doula and husband told me, all the nurses (and there were tons in there for no reason) were flirting with him while I was pushing and basically being ignored. My nurse refused to call my OB, who promised to be there and was very upset that she didn’t call. She told me she was going to call and then rudely told me she wouldn’t when I told her I was getting pushy and asked about his whereabouts. He obviously hated the fact that I was drug free and an inconvenient to his morning. I was having a very fast intense labor and that made it hard to take up for myself, and my doula tried. My thought process was this- if I try to fight them or get scared, my labor could stall, and then what is going to happen to me? So I used my bubble of peace and trusted that everything was going to be ok… and now I already have a homebirth midwife lined up for next time!

Oh yeah, and I gave birth at 7:38 and he had a scheduled C-section to attend at 8. That’s why he wanted to vaccum. He decided before he even took a look at me that he would not let me push long (thankfully only took about 20 minutes, ftm) before even meeting me.

Wow, what a gem of a doctor.
I’m sorry you were treated so badly.

I had a doctor try to rush my delivery with the vacuum and it still wasn’t happening fast enough. Had emergency c-section that took an hour to get in for. He had forced and over used the vacuum that my son pretty much bleed to death from the hemorrhage it caused while wait for my c-section. He died three hours later. My doctor was leaving on vacation. So thank heaven you got it done. I’m sorry you had to go through that

I could tell you so much more of my horror story. I got a meritorious ruling which puts a strike on his record . he delivered one of my other babies. I loved him. He was my babies doctor after. We are having another one due the end of this month she was a oops. We are having a home birth. My family and I are scared but excited. She won’t replace but she will bring some much needed healing. I read what everyone posts it makes me sad and sick that there is so much abuse of power in the medical community that is supposed to help us and support us. Not treat us like we are stupid or incapable of doing what we are designed to do as women. We are vulnerable when we are having our babies. We need encouragment and support. We trust them to take care of us.

We didn’t sit idle by after or sweep it under the rug so many of us wanted us to. We got the autopsy and pressed forward to get things to change around here. We have done all we can do here. I truly hope my sons lose was not in vain. I hope that we have got their attention enough so it doesn’t happen again. I wouldn’t wish this on my worse enemy.

I’m glad you pursued action against him, although I’m sad that the medical community shielded him from the full impact of what he did. If he’d done that to an adult outside the hospital, they’d have called it murder. (If he’d driven into the side of someone’s car hurrying to leave on vacation in three hours, for example).
I hope you have a safe and peaceful delivery.

Whoa, he’s entering a hospital room, not a biker bar. Let’s be professional. Let’s also be mindful of others’ religions. They might not like you taking the Lord’s name in vain.
