Thoughtful Thursday! “That Really Gave Me Loads Of Trust In Women’s Ability To Birth.”
“That really gave me loads of trust in women’s ability to birth.” – Doula to her client after a straightforward and enjoyable but intense homebirth.
Heidi do you not like it when your doula compliments you? Because I do it, like, a lot! Does it matter that I’m totally sincere and not just blowing smoke?

From my own experience I love it when my doula compliments me. Especially after my ds’ difficult homebirth. I apologized up and down for what I perceived as being a big sissy when it came to the pain and my doula totally made me feel like I actually did a good job.

I specifically asked my doula, my midwife, his assistant and my husband NOT to praise me (or make any other comments about how I’m behaving) during labour. They didn’t. My doula said this later when I asked her what she thought about the experience. I am a doula too, so I were super happy that she felt that way.

How nice! Of course, I didn’t hire a doula to compliment me, but it still is cool when they have after the birth. On Facebook? Yeah, I’ll take it.
