Thoughtful Thursday! “Women Weren’t Meant To Give Birth Lying Flat On Their Backs.”
“Women weren’t meant to give birth lying flat on their backs.” – L&D Nurse to mother in labor.
I think there should be another day of the week designated for evidence-based comments like this. Scientific Saturday, perhaps?

Mine! She was pretty awesome. She was younger and pregnant herself (30 weeks). She told me this, then showed me all the different positions I could use- all 4s on the bed, using the squatting bar, on my side etc. Unfortunately, I ended up on my back. After 6 hours in transition (yup, 6 hours at 7cm, nonstop “hit by a truck” style contractions) nearly fainting twice and throwing up at least a dozen times, I asked for an epidural. It was the right thing for this birth. I’m planning on a home birth for baby #4 (a few years down the road, if we are so blessed)

Wow! Wish this nurse could be cloned. I’m a bit jaded, I guess, but I figure this nurse was either fresh out of school or a much older nurse who knew that birth could be done without technology.
