Thoughtful Thursday! “…She Can Push This Baby Out Just Fine…”

“Oh yes, she can push this baby out just fine…. prep the room for delivery!” – OB to mother who was a home birth transfer and expected the OB to suggest a cesarean.

Love OBs who can save the day without having to use “heroic” measures.

The only heroic measure that’s usually needed is Mama’s pushing power. Good for this OB!

I totally agree – that’s why I put ‘heroics’ in quotes. Also, I think that the tricks docs pull out are rarely heroic.

Yay! Yes I ended up with an AWESOME OB who let me decide how to proceed with every intervention. He gave me plenty of time and space. I arrived at the hospital after 3-4 hours of pushing, completely exhausted and contractions getting further and further apart. I COMPLETELY expected them to pull out the “baby too big” card and haul me off for a c-section. They gave me time, and in the end my contractions began getting closer together, baby moved further down and I was able to push him to crowing. They used the vaccuum at the end to help him and it all went beautifully!!! They *respected* my MIDWIFE and were so very gracious. The whole thing was amazing! Still had a natural birth with no meds!
