Thougtful Thursday! “…Of Course You’re Ready For Another One!”
“How wonderful! Of course you’re ready for another one!” – Certified Nurse Midwife to mother being seen for the removal of her IUD. She already had two children 3 and under.
This one is mine. I had moved to a new state and was seeing this CNM for the first time. I was feeling ready for a 3rd child, even though to some, I already had two small children. As she was carrying on conversation, we of course got to the reason as to why I wanted my IUD removed. (I didn’t like it anyway). I told her that I was ready to be pregnant again. She asked how many kids I had and I told her that I had a 3 yr old and a 2 year old. Then this posting, was her response to me. I was shocked! I didn’t expect such a cheerful, supportive answer. She has proven to be just as wonderful since! I’m now due in September and my youngest will be 3 in June. I’m excited for this new baby and am grateful to have a CNM that is so supportive of my choices! I just had to share.

What a gem! SOOO much better than the ones we see pressuring the woman to be sterilized, or berating her for not using birth control.
You would think of all people, birth professionals would be GLAD to see women making use of their services, right?
Congratulations on your new little one, I’m due in September too, it’s a great month to birth a baby!

I am due in September with my 3rd as well! My two older children will be barely 3 and 14 months and people never ask about this pregnancy when I have both children with me. It’s like this baby doesn’t matter as much because I already have “my hands full”. I’m so glad you have a CNM who is supportive of her clients having children. It’s so refreshing!

YAY for a provider who actually likes babies!

This CNM is a refreshing change from the providers we see on here who make low and tacky judgments on women’s fertility. I’m sure this CNM would be *equally* supportive of the couple that was done having babies. WTG, CNM! I wish there were more like you!

My 3 youngest are very close together, by most people’s standards, born in 1/05, 10/06, and 6/08, so I know how refreshing and encouraging this comment is. Both my ob and my family practice dr. have been very positive and supportive of our “big family” (we have 4 with the 5th due in July) and I so appreciate it.

Sweet comment! I love it when care providers are pro-child.
