“You’ve Got A Tiny, Narrow Pelvis. Like A 12 Year Old…”
You’ve got a tiny, narrow pelvis. Like a 12 year old. I’ll schedule your cesarean for 38 weeks.” – OB to mother, who’d previously vaginally delivered a 9lb 6oz baby, at her 28 week appointment with her second pregnancy.
Oh no you will not Dr. Stabby-Hands. But hey, thanks for giving me several weeks to find a new practitioner that a) can read my medical history, b) doesn’t use a crystal ball as a tool to make medical decisions and c) understands that I will be the one making the actual decisions, not them.

WTH!!! I ersonally have had to tell the docs with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies about my older children’s size at birth but that is because they make a new chart with EVERY SINGLE PREGNANCY. So I technically have 4 medical charts (1 regular and 3 OB charts). Makes NO sense but whatever.
I would seriously let them schedule it and just not show up.

“Oh wow, how big do you think this baby is? Really? You think nine pounds? You think I could never deliver a nine pounder? You’re SURE this baby is nine pounds? REALLY SURE? Oh, thank God. Because my last baby was nine and a half pounds, so a nine pounder will be so much easier. Thank you for the reassurance that I can deliver vaginally and I’m so grateful that you WOULD have sectioned me to save my life, but it’s so sweet of you to have shown me it’s not necessary. What a thoughtful, considerate doctor you are, always looking out for my well-being first.”

1) Read the chart you moron.
2) The March of Dimes has a problem with scheduling before 39 weeks
3)I have a problem with scheduling before 42

He really stuck his foot in his mouth this time! So used to having his little lies believed by vulnerable and gullible women; he didn’t bother to find out that he was talking to a woman who already KNEW she could deliver a good sized baby.
I think there is a circle in hell reserved for doctors like this. But isn’t there some earthly punishment available for doctors who deliberately lie to their patients? Especially when there are so clearly caught out in a lie?

I meant, “when they are”. Or when “he is”.

You know what this reminds me of-what happened to my grandmother. She had three babies at home and nursed them all. Then she had her fourth in a hospital, where they told her “You can’t possibly nurse a baby with those flat nipples.” They gave her a glass nipple shield with a long protruding bottle nipple on it to use. She was so meek she just went along with it. That baby would never take the breast and she had to bottle feed it. My mother was 14 at that time and saw her mother struggle to get the baby to take the breast, which is one reason why she didn’t try to nurse me. The hospital was able to make what they said the truth for that baby, when it clearly wasn’t the truth with the homeborn babies, where there was no alternative to breast feeding them, since there was no money for any other method.

This was mine. I told that doctor to shove his scalpel up his @$$ and walked right out! And at 41 weeks, 3 days, I delivered my 9lb 12oz little boy in a birthing tub and breastfed him 4 minutes later. It was perfect and magical.
It breaks my heart to know that so many young or un-knowledgeable or shy women are railroaded by lazy, ignorant doctors like him.

Congratulations on a healthy baby and beautiful birth! I am a momma of healthy 9 and 10 pounders, too. And, I second your feelings – it IS heartbreaking that so many women (and their babies) get run through the wringer because they trust their doctor and their doctor is someone like this. Forever after those women will think they weren’t capable of birthing. Its really sad.

Good for you!! I think so many women just get intimidated by the “title” of “doctor” and just suck it up and do what they want. How did this doctor explain the miraculous birth of the previous baby you had vaginally? I’m a part of the 9lb+ club too and it was an easier, more relaxed birth (with a midwife at a birth center) than my 5lb 12oz baby was in a hospital. So many just don’t “get” that our bodies are designed for this!

Will that be before the two week family vacation my due date so inconveniently interrupts?
