OP- did you get your VBAC?

It sounds like the doc is basically saying “I’m going to look the other way.” Was the hospital’s policy against VBACs?

I am the OP. I was worried about the policy (in a VBAC ban hospital) because my mother went to 42 weeks and my grandmother went 43+ weeks with all her 5 kids. I needn’t worry, because my waters broke at 39+4, I labored at home for 12 hours, then went in to hospital on my doctor’s advice and had my VBAC at 39+6, 30 hours after labor started (and 12 hours past the hospital’s policy of “c-section for anyone with waters broken more than 18 hours). The doctor, our wonderful family practitioner, stayed 15 hours into his day off to facilitate my VBAC at the ban hospital.

Hey! I’ve got a great family practice doc for my OB in Arkansas as well… but I’m near Searcy. I’ve been thinking I need to submit him and the nurse manager who helped me around ‘hospital policy’ for birth position to the Thoughtful Thursdays. They were great.

I’m in Little Rock and I forget that we still have VBAC bans in this state. Bans on HBAC, yeah, but hospitals… I attended 2 VBACs this spring and the second one had her baby at 42+1. It’s so nice to know that our small state has VBAC supporting OBs all over who aren’t afraid to trust that the woman’s body knows when it’s ready and that it can work.
