“Well, If You Lose It, You Lose It.”
“Well, if you lose it, you lose it.” OB to mother presenting with vaginal bleeding in the 4th month.
This frustrates me so much and seriously makes me want to knock this OB’s teeth out. It is true that in many cases if you are going to miscarry there is nothing that can be done to stop it from happening, but that does not give a health provider the right to be so callous when giving such a diagnosis. He/she could have simply said, “We will keep a close eye on the bleeding to rule different problems out.” I hope as well that the OP did not lose the child because sometimes when you are that far along you have to birth the baby (although some providers give the choice of having a D&C) and that could be so traumatic. I know my early miscarriages were very hard, I couldn’t imagine having to go farther into the pregnancy and lose my child

That would’ve been my cue.. I would’ve LOST IT right there, right then on the OB. What a heartless person. Isn’t it supposed to be your JOB to do everything in your power to make sure I DON’T lose my baby?!? Hope this doc got fired, mama got a new one, and baby turned out fine. I have a history of miscarriage and a stillbirth and wouldn’t tolerate such nonchalance towards the issue. UGH!!! What a @#%%$^&^%&#$@!$%^!@%^&*##%^!!!!!!!

comment was to my mom, in 1983. She did find herself a new doctor, and my sister was born perfectly healthy 5 months later!

What a total Arse. I totally agree with Lauretta. Generally there is nothing that can be done, but what happened to compassion. To loose a baby is very devastating and I can take women a long time to get over the loss. I would like to know why Doctors think they have the god given right to be so cruel and callous to their patients.

Aww, how sweet. Compassion is alive and well. Brings a tear to my eye. :-b
I hope the woman lost a doctor shortly thereafter. The doctor shouldn’t mind if she transfers care: after all, if you lose a patient, you lose a patient.
