Me too! I recall the first thing out of my mouth after my VBAC was a breathless “I did it!” and my midwife replied “Yes you did!” Gives me warm fuzzies every time I think about it.

I love that!!!!! Right after I birthed my daughter, I laid back on the bed and just grinned like mad. My husband snapped a picture and I adore it. I look so proud and exhausted (my labor was VERY long; 2 days prodromal and 3 active), thrilled and serene all rolled into one. Ahhhh.

I love this comment. Sometimes following a VBAC, mommas will say to me (their doula), “I couldn’t have done it without you,” and I ALWAYS say, “YOU DID ALL THE WORK. I’m just a high-priced cheerleader.” Really. It’s you AMAZING women who do the work of childbirth. We doulas just have the infinite pleasure and HONOR of attending you. God can and does work miracles everyday. As a doula, I get to witness them first-hand!

Doulas are wonderful!
I don’t think I would have had my own VBAC without one.
