I had a pretty lousy OB style repair with my first tear. The second was in my home, stitched by the midwife... let me tell you, my husband and I are both more happy with the NORMAL repair that she did!

Ah, but you had a professional. The only time I tore was behind an episiotomy (unnecessary) for my first birth. I don't know whether he just didn't suture it right, but every so often for the next three years it would "pinch" sometimes, and then after my second birth, there was a slight tear on the scar (one stitch, and they debated doing that.) No tearing or stitching for the next three births.

(One midwife joked, "I'm no good at suturing because I almost never do it." LOL!)

I suspect that I got the husband stitch and let me tell you it makes removing a menstrual cup comparable to crowning a baby. OUCH!

Contrast this "doctor"'s attitude and, I'm sure, horrible job of stitching, with what happened to me 39 years ago: I, also tore extensively with the birth if my first child. My OB never said anything negative, just started stitching, and took 45 minutes to make sure everything was perfect. The next day, while checking on his work, he told me he'd, basically, done plastic surgery on me. I never had any scarring or problems, and, in my subsequent 4 births, only needed one stitch with two of my babies.
