“So when are you going to have a *normal* pregnancy?” -OB to mother experiencing an ectopic pregnancy at six weeks, after a previous 22 week loss in her first pregnancy.

Is there any chance this was a hamhanded attempt at reassuring the mom or trying to make her laugh? Any chance at all?

BTW, if every woman had a “normal” pregnancy, then no one would need obstetricians. I’m sure no one wanted this mom to have a “normal” pregnancy more than she did.

To the mom who submitted this: I’m so sorry, and I’d give you a hug if I could.

That poor mom… I’m sure she’s feeling pretty horrible & guilt (despite it being completely out of her control), without someone adding their two cents. If it had been me, I would have felt like it was an acusation… like I was defective…

that hurts… we need to be thinking before we speak!!!
