I think the tech may have just said it wrong...maybe he meant he didn't want the toddler to see the u/s if something was wrong? Still, not a good thing to say.

Jennifer, did they advise you to move your 2 1/2 year old out of your home until your baby was born, safely?

Yeah, I know some places don't allow kids... in fact, the place I finally ended up at to get the information the doc wanted doesn't allow children. It's in their written policy that is mailed to each person BEFORE they come in for their first visit. This gives parents the time to find appropriate childcare.

The reason we tried this place was because we ASKED and were told that he was welcome to come back with us. My Doula was also there with her nursling.

Well we are missing the detail that the toddler in mention was screaming his lungs out. LOL Poor Alex! I think it was her way of trying to just reduce the volume/stress of the situation but wow, I almost laughed in her face when she pulled that one out of her hat. Make sure the baby is safe? Seriously, that's the best you can come up with?

Wow. Maybe taking a minute to explain their reasoning instead of kicking people out? I can see *maybe* limiting the mother to one support person, due to liability, space issues, etc. but NOBODY?

That's really harsh. I happen to think both parents should be allowed to be as involved as they mutually want each other to be in the pregnancy care, and sharing in viewing an U/S is usually very significant to both parents.

I would have been so sad if my husband could not be present during the U/S I had in my first pregnancy. He's a big strong "stereotypical manly guy" and I am pretty sure he cried in there.

I was talking to a woman whose doctor office wouldn't allow anyone else into the room during the 20-week u/s, even a partner/spouse. When she complained about it, they freaking dropped her from the practice! Unreal.

Me: Maybe this was misunderstood?A lot of places don’t want siblings in there just in case something is wrong with the baby…..

In that case, it should be up to the family to decide. I just hate it when care providers use the "baby is in danger" card just so they don't have to explain their real reason for wanting to do something.
