“Yay! The day is finally here! You get to meet your baby today!” – Midwife to mother who went into labor 11 days past her due date.

I only hope this was said during transition or further… labor can last days and it would SUCK if someone said this to me and it didn’t happen

Vicki, my midwife *did* say this to me (though I’m not the OP). To be fair, I went into labor at 6 a.m. on a Wednesday; it seemed a fair bet I would be delivering on Wednesday. (Didn’t happen.)

This one was mine. I went into labor the evening before but tried my best to ignore my contractions because I was sure they would fade off like they had been for the last week or so. At about midnight, we realized that these ones weren’t going away, but didn’t call the midwife until 2 or 3 am….I was dilated to 5cm when she got there. My baby was born at 12:33pm! =)

I heard this…twice in fact!!
I was induced for post-dates on a Tuesday. Wednesday morning I heard it, and Thursday morning I heard it. Finally Friday morning I was sent home because I wasn’t dilating!!!
My son arrived (vaginally) the next Monday!
