The nurse was in no way sarcastic, she was wonderfully supportive of my client. Still have pains now and then, and numbness around the scar area from a c-section over 2 years ago. Biggest complaint from my VBAC was it started in the middle of the night and it's hell trying to wake up my husband. ALSO a *Proud VBACer* Be informed people. Go read the medical studies on that subject - the risk is not even 1% higher than in a first time vaginal birth. Yes, the risk of uterine rupture is possible in ALL pregnancies! I am so very tired of the willful ignorance and fear mongering. This is like saying you can't ever walk again after breaking a leg. The human body is a remarkable, resilient organism. We do it a great disservice by allowing constant medical unnecessary intervention. Seriously, why do people keep citing that “fact”? What a great nurse!! :) **I totally agree with you about the double layer of stitches. Unfortunately I have no idea if I have that or not. My dr never told me, and neither I nor a Navy commander/OB were able to get the hospital to send out my operative report. Stupid Puerto Rico hospital...GRRRR. Also ladies, be sure to have your Dr. stitch up your uterus in two layers instead of one so your chances of having a uterine rupture is lessened and your chances for having a successful VBAC is greater.
