When she learned about my c-section she said, "oh, I thought you would have a c-section". Aargh!!! she was the one who insisted I stay in bed most of the time attached to the external fetal monitor because the mobile unit didn't work. It is amazing anyone has a natural birth in that hospital! I guess she had talked with the doctor and they had decided that based on observing me for less than an hour. And my friend told me last night that she had to have a cesarean because when you have Gestational Diabetes you have to have a cesarean. She believed it. She is teeny tiny but her baby was too, only 4 lbs 10 oz at 40 weeks. Scheduled cesarean for GD. I was sitting chatting with a group of new moms recently (who all gave birth in the same hospital) when I realized that of the seven moms, 4 had unplanned c-sections! That's 57%! Aaargh!
