“…Maybe God’s Trying To Tell You Something…”
Ugh! This makes me so mad. I’ve been suspecting for awhile that doctors are inadvertently (or possible on purpose) trying to limit the number of children that women give birth to. Current birth practices are no doubt limiting fertility for millions of women either because of physical factors or in the face of emotional trauma.

I have thought this as well. There are a lot of women in my area that either are pregnant as teens or wait until their late 30s to have children (not much inbetween). I truly think that the OBs use the c-section to limit the teen births and resort to them with the older moms because of the “higher risk”.

A few years ago on the Fructus Ventris blog, Alicia (a midwife) talked about a patient who was suffering from unexplained secondary infertility. When they did some exploration, they discovered that after her previous delivery (in another country) the OB had performed a tubal ligation on her and hadn’t documented it, hadn’t told her…of course he hadn’t gotten permission. Just, he’d figured she had enough kids, so he was going to do something about it.

No, God is saying “Hey buddy, quit trying to do my job!”

Is that why “God” is now making 1 in 3 women ‘unable’ to birth their babies and have to have surgery instead? Give me a break. What incredibly holey reasoning. If OBs want to be the enforcers of a non-existent government-mandated sterilization program, let’s have it out in the open, put it to the vote, (NO Electronic votes or recounts, please! Two recounts with Bush was enough!) and let the cards fall where they may. Until then, OBs need to quit seeing themselves as Dark Angels of Sterilization unless specifically asked for such.

And people wonder where we get the idea that some doctors have a God-complex?
Seriously, unless the woman is asking you for family planning information, her reproductive plans are none of your business!
And even if she did choose not to have any more children after her third child’s birth, what does that have to do with preferring to give birth without the added risk of an unnecessary surgery?

Amen. My first thought to this statement was ‘I hate to break it to you but you’re not God.’ I completely agree with everything you said.
