Thoughtful Thursday! “…How Are You Processing All This?”
“Just calling to check and see how you’re processing all this?”- midwife calling mother at home in the evening, after the mother had found out earlier that day at her 20 week ultrasound that she was carrying twins. The midwife had already spent the better part of the day with her, helping her to wrap her brain around it.
The twins were born successfully at home in May of 2008 at 39 weeks gestation.
My hat is off to you. That decision took courage, determination, and knowledge. All appear to have been in place. They would have had to place me on suicide watch, if I had been diagnosed with twins. God really does know what is best for his children.

Yay! I just came to check and see if my entry ever made it online and it DID! My midwife rocks.
I was completely blown away! My twins are numbers five and six and my first four were born in four years-making all of my children six and under at the time of birth! It was a crazy 19 weeks while we frantically tried to prepare ourselves for TWO babies! It’s been a really wild and fun ride since their birth, and I don’t think I could have done it without the patient guidance and love of my midwife. She and I like to say we really walked that journey together. The twins were born healthy and safe at home at 39 weeks. I was a lucky girl to be surrounded by five of the best midwifes in the DFW metroplex and one AMAZING doula who helped me through a difficult transition.

That’s amazing. Congratulations. How are you doing with all the little ones now?

Quite well, thank you for asking! The twins are nearly 2.5 now and recently weaned and are in the thick of potty learning. Hard for me to really believe they are so big already-the first two years just FLEW! It’s a lot of work but ultimately so worth it at the end of the day.

Yay! How cool that she helped her work things out in her head. I know I’d need some hand holding!
