Thoughtful Thursdays! “…It’s Your Child.”
“Besides, Its Your Child.” -OB to mother who was facing an early miscarriage, after an insensitive nurse had called on the phone with poor blood test lab results, delivering the information in an unkind manner.
That’s great
I had a midwife, in a hospital practice, that was very kind when I miscarried. The doctor I saw for my follow up visit was very cold. I just wanted her to acknowledge that I had lost a CHILD.
I’m glad this woman got that validation. May her heart soon heal <3

Amanda, I knew someone who also had this same experience. Unfortunately, she was already five months along, and she said the doctor (ironically, also my doctor) was a complete nonchalant ass about it.

I wish the ER doc that told me I had a blighted ovum was this gentle. He told me “there was no baby, so it’s not like anyone died.”

Thank you. I sent a letter of complaint to the doc, Chief of Staff and the Staff Admin (can’t remember his title). I received an apology by phone from the doc himself and a letter of apology from the (Catholic) hospital. It still stings, but I feel so much better for calling him on it.

I had a similar situation with my miscarriage. The ER Dr who came to confirm the ultrasound results (a missed miscarriage) said “it doesn’t look good” and then walked out. This was after they told my husband to stay in the hallway during the u/s. Thankfully MY OB was much more kind and was there for me and my hubby when we needed her.
my heart goes out to the mother ((hugs))
