“…There Really Just Isn’t Any…Reason To Be…Putting Yourself & Your Baby At Risk.”
“Now that you’ve reached your due date, there really just isn’t any good reason to be walking around putting yourself and your baby at risk. We need to do a cesarean tomorrow.” -OB to a mother one day past her due date, who was planning a VBAC.
“There really isn’t any reason to be putting my baby and myself at risk during a cesarean,so we’ll be waiting a bit longer, thanks.”
I tell moms all the time that if they want to avoid a scheduled induction or a scheduled section, the doctor can’t do it if they fail to show up. We all know how forgetful pregnant women can be.

LOL, Jane, I like that–”how forgetful pregnant women can be.” I’m going to have to borrow that.

wonder how I got born 54 yrs ago at 43 weeks gestation. born at home in Switzerland, not worse for the wear. I HATE THIS FEAR MONGERING THAT OB’s engage in!

I also wonder how on earth my daughter was born safely at home 4 years ago at nearly 44 weeks. Admittedly by 44 weeks we were all starting to wonder if it was ever going to happen and started doing some of the less invasive (and more fun) induction techniques but I suspect that none of them actually “worked” other than to take my mind off the fact that I was still pregnant.

There really isn’t any reason to be such a jerk to me because of your own preconceived misconceptions about a baby’s “due date” being an “expiration date”
