“…You’ve Never Really Had Anything That Big Come Through There Before.”
“Well, of course it’s intense, you’ve never really had anything that big come through there before.” -OB to VBAC mom complaining about the pressure and sensations of pushing/
OB then turns to the dad; “No offense.”
Oh brother. Don’t know where to start with this one.

Why do they insist on the sexual during birth. All I can say is “duh.”

Well, birth IS sexual. That’s why the word sexual is in “sexual reproduction.” (Having a baby=reproducing.)

I do know it’s reproduction, but for me the moment of birth is not a time to point anything out to my husband or to me about his size…or the size of anything coming into my body. Birth is not the same kind of sexual as having sex…not for me.

Birth is the end result of sexual intimacy, not a time when a doctor or nurse…or midwife should be pointing to any part of my body and making crude comments. I do not have sex with a doctor, nurse, or midwife in the room.

Because if we did, they’d criticize that the foreplay was taking too long, make the couple have intercourse on chairs set up four feet apart because it’s easier to observe that way, stop in order to assess the man’s readiness every five minutes, and then get out some kind of equipment to get the sperm into the uterus better because obviously nature wasn’t going to work this time.

I have to say, this one kind of made me chuckle, only b/c I know my husband would’ve laughed if the OB had said this to him. I would’ve laughed too but probably after I got done pushing out the baby
It seems like this was said ‘lightheartedly’…and it’s kind of nice to see posts that don’t make me immediately cringe and want to hit something. The ignorance, the indifference, and misinformation that I see on this site from OBs, midwives, nurses, etc. is INFURIATING.
