I really hope the mother said, “I’ll go with the 5 hours of labor thanks so much.”

It’s really an emergency. Really. That’s why I’d “let” you labor for 5 more hours.

You can spend the next 5 hours in labor, or you can spend the next 6 weeks recovering from major surgery.

Doesn’t the term “emergency” imply that it is life-threatening, and therefore can’t wait another 5 hours?

Actually, an “emergency” C-section is merely one that was unplanned at the start of labor. Crazy, huh? Some emergency C-sections are truly emergent and necessary, but doctors (for whatever reason) divide C-sections into “planned” and “emergency” for statistical purposes. Which really sucks, because so many women hear that they had an emergency C-section and then conclude that their C-section was life-saving to either them or their baby, when it may not have been even necessary or beneficial, much less life-saving! Sigh…

Wat the doctor meant 2 say was ” u cn either bug me and keep me from having drinks w my buddys or I cn gv u an emergency c-section and get you out of my hair in the nxt hour.” THANKS DOC!
