“Now You’ve Contaminated…The Baby’s Head…”

“Now you’ve contaminated my glove and the baby’s head. Stop pushing, I need to change my gloves.” -OB to mother who touched her own baby’s head after her perineum had been washed with antiseptic.

Um, hello? The baby is SUPPOSED to be colonized with mama’s own flora during birth. Get the antiseptic away from her. And gloves are there on purpose to avoid contaminating the hand inside them. What was he planning to do, keep it?

LMAO!!! This one is just funny. Contaminate.. the baby? What difference does it make touching the baby’s head when its half out vs when its all the way out? Unless touching it when its half out means that the germs are automatically going to climb up the baby and into the uterus and give you an infection? Riiiight.

I really get annoyed when they wash the perineum with antiseptic. Thank you SO much for washing off her natural lubrication so that now she can tear….

Man, I am so sheltered here in the great Northwest. Not everything is perfect by any means, but I don’t know of a single hospital in Seattle that still puts antiseptic on a mom’s perineum. Even the two epis I’ve seen, they didn’t do that.
