I have a friend who had 2 natural births, a medically necessary surgical birth, and now 2 VBACs. Her next pregnancy after the cesarean she told me she felt really crampy due to the scar stretching (or that’s what they told her).
Funny how in the process of trying to talk women into a primary “elective” surgical birth they don’t mention this little side effect, or the potential consequences for future fertility, or all the other risk factors.
Informed consent: to me it means you tell me the risks and the benefits of the procedure versus the risks and benefits of NOT doing the procedure, I think it over and choose the set of risks I am OK with (since nothing is risk-free, ever). I sometimes feel like to certain OBs it means “I tell you what to do, and you do it.”
