“Never in my 20 years of being a midwife, have I seen a woman with blood pressure like yours not be induced before labor starts.” -Certified Nurse Midwife to client whose labor started spontaneously and who did not have clinically diagnosable case of pregnancy-induced hypertension.

My midwife calls these kinds of women “med-wives” because they ‘drank the Koolaid’.

She would have been doing fits regarding my BP in my last pregnancy then–it topped out at 165/115.

No, I wasn’t induced. I tried some natural remedies (drank cream of tartar in lemon juice–YUCK! and soaked in an Epsom Salt bath), and my BP came right down. Wish I’d tried them SOONER, rather than waiting for things to get so drastic.
