“Why are you moaning, it doesn’t hurt.” -OB to mother during artificial rupture of membranes, while she had a contraction flat on her back during the procedure.

I remember the pain of the OB “trying” rupture the membranes—not succesful. He tried again hours later. I would say that was very painful/uncomfortable. My back arched it was so bad. It was over 12 years ago. I chose to have a homebirth the next time.

Male OB? Contraction or not, having someone else’s hand up your vagina as far as they can reach is never a comfortable experience.
