“…I Don’t Know Why Anyone Would Do That.”
“I’ll support a natural birth but I don’t know why anyone would do that.” -OB to home birth transfer mother.
This was me. I had been laboring for 25 hours naturally, everything was going beautifully up until I was 9 cms. I stayed at 9cm for several hours but my baby wasn’t dropping and there was meconium in the waters. My midwife decided it was time to transfer me and the OB who eventually delivered my baby said this to me. Turns out they did not support a natural labor, they denied all my requests to labor as I had been and threatened me with the health of my baby, and kept throwing the words c-section around. My baby eventually dropped and was born vaginally, but she was all tangled in her cord. The OB left me with a 3rd degree episiotomy. My daughter is now a happy healthy 7 month old. I will go for my home birth again with our next baby.

exactly, obs are all about the money, we just had dannii minogue (an aussie singer) have a homebirth transfer, non emergency, and there was a big uproar on whether home births were dangerous, and this head of ob went on a tv news show and crapped on about how he would never support homebirths, like duh of course you wouldnt, you dont get paid for supporting homebirths!!
the whole medical establishment has NOTHING whatsoever to do with health, nor do they follow their supposed motto “first do no harm.”
It is all about the MONEY!!! especially obstetrics.

And that right there is why we NEED to look for support and information on the internet, and why we can find more truth about birth online than in most OB offices. I can think of half a dozen reasons just off the top of my head WHY people “want to do that” some are medical, some are personal, and yet this guy after years of medical training couldn’t come up with a single one.
