DONA and other places would disagree, too. Research has shown that women who are supported in labor have shorter labors. Feelings of comfort and safety allow the best hormonal orchestration of labor, hence making contractions and labor itself more productive, efficient, and faster!

Good God, I hope none of them were listening … You have to wonder – does she really believe the crap she’s spewing? What, did you hear that from a doctor who really acts like he knows what he’s talking about?

Offering a woman support during labor is important and will not stall labor, if anything it will speed it up. Poking and proding a woman in labor and causing her stress WILL slow the labor process.
