“Babies Just Don’t Survive Past 42 Weeks.”
“Babies just don’t survive past 42 weeks.” – CNM when asked if they would order Non-Stress Tests instead of inducing at 42 weeks, if mother was still pregnant.
Riiiight. I’d love to introduce that doctor to my 4 year old daughter, who apparently didn’t “survive” gestating a whole 42 weeks ad 3 days.

Ayup there’s a little bit of C4 hooked up to a timer on your umbilical cord. At 42 weeks and 1 minute … BLAMMO!

Yes, don’t tell the Netherlands about this one! Since they know that normal gestation is 38 to 42 weeks, and “overdue” doesn’t even begin until after 42 weeks, they have perfectly normal babies, at home, and no one bats an eyelash about 42 weeks. What a Difference An Ocean Makes!

I love the (rare) stories of verifiable pregnancies that go past 10 months. Dr Bradley (of the Husband Coached Childbirth books) reports a 12 month pregnancy in his book, mother under his close supervision from conception through delivery so wasn’t a false timing thing either.

Well, that’s interesting news to me! I guess I must not have survived, since I was born at 44 weeks. Hmmm… And of course NO ONE ever has cycles that are longer than 28 days, making the doctor’s little infallible wheel inaccurate. Babies *may* in some cases be at risk past 42 weeks, but they can also be perfectly healthy, just not ready yet!
