“You’re not going to dilate any more until I break your bag of water.” -CNM to mom who had started having some moderate contractions and presented to the hospital at 8 cm dilation.

Well, and your baby could get stuck in a bad position and we’ll need to help you deliver. Or maybe your cord will come down and cause an emergency c-section. We like putting people on a time table for birth. Oh, and risk of infection is always a fun part of birth. Maybe we can screw a monitor line into your baby’s head….
