“I Could Either Do Surgery Now or Later.”
“I can either do surgery now or later.”- OB telling mother if she had a vaginal birth, that she would need reconstructive surgery to fix all of the damage that would be done.
I know someone who had her first live birth in her late 30’s after years of infertility, including an 18 week pregnancy loss…so “premium pregnancy,” you know?
Well she showed up in the hospital with ruptured membranes, no labor, late in the evening. The Dr. told her “well you can try to labor, but if you haven’t given birth in 14 hours we will have to do an EMERGENCY cesarean, or we can just do a calm cesarean right now.”
Gee, what do you think this woman chose when it was put that way?
Guess getting to bed before midnight was more important to this Dr. than respecting this woman’s future health.

Wow, I would have asked, “What are you planning on doing to me as I push?”

Knitted in the Womb, sounds like one of those “mother-elected” c-sections we hear so much about. Poor doctors, having to deal with moms who “choose” c-sections based on nothing but ridiculous fear-mongering by… the doctors.

Wow. Whatever it takes to get women to consent, I guess.
