When she asked, "Is there any medical reason why I need to be on my back?" the OB replied, "Well, no, babies are born all sorts of ways, but it would be easier on me if she would move so I can reach her." Mom scooted further onto the bed, into reach of the OB, but remained side-lying to give birth, and everyone seemed happy with that arrangement. She had me on the monitor, not because of my baby or worries of health but so she could have peace of mind. She said she wouldn't let me go to the bathroom or take a shower because she was more comfortable with me in the bed...I likely didn't need to be there. She said she kept doing cervical checks every 20 mintues for her comfort...ugh! My sister had similar experience when she was giving birth to her son. The doctor said something like "you stuck what, where?" She was reffering to a nurse that had placed a urine pan under her bum because she was.. well.. there was a mess lol. lol this is too funny.
