“…Your Uterus Might Fall Out!”
“You can’t walk around 4 cm dilated! Your uterus might fall out!” — OB Nurse to a 2nd time mom being pressured to induce because she was dilated 4 cm and NOT in labor.
Funny, I walked around for who knows how long at 5cm without being in labor. Of course, when my water broke and my son was breech, the doctor told me to go to the hospital for my C-section because “You’re five centimeters and we don’t want you to show up with feet hanging out of you!” He was NOT a footling.

*gasp* Myssie, don’t you know that your baby will DIE if you’re not laying on your back with your legs up for pushing??? Not to mention that it could get brain damage from being rammed against an intact perineum!!
**Sadly, most OBs would think I was serious.

Not this one. This one is appalled at the education level of some health professionals indicative in that comment. (this one also prefers standing/all fours deliveries. Just sayin’)

HaHahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah *GASP* hahahahahahahahahaha.
This one might be my favorite. See, with my second baby I was dilated to a 2 six weeks before delivery. I was at a 5 four weeks before delivery. By the time I went to the hospital, a month later, I was at an 8-9. I’d been 100% effaced for two weeks. My midwife was willing to wait until I went into labor. I delivered 45 minutes later after pushing 3 times.
And
my
uterus
didn’t
fall
out.

@ Aussiedoc
It always encourages me when I meet/hear about docs who are willing to practice evidence based care, rather than convenience/fear based barbarism. The world needs more doctors like this! I hope you are able to tell more docs, who each tell more, and maybe one day our daughters and granddaughters will NOT have anything to contribute to this site.

The only organ that had fallen out was that nurse’s brain! Although, on second thought (which is one more than she could manage!), I bet she had a lobotomy — wouldn’t want to just let something fall out that could be surgically removed, now would she? What a moronic thing to say to a woman! Prolapsed uteri are not common problems!

I was in 6.5cm dilated for two days before I went into labor. My uterus is still right where it ought to be. Some people . . .
