You’ve gotta check out Gloria Lemay’s article, “Pelvises I Have Known and Loved.” In it, she says, “One of the midwife ‘tricks’ that we were taught was to ask the mother’s shoe size. If the mother wore size five or more shoes, the theory went that her pelvis would be ample.” This is probably the basis of this OB’s comment. But the article continues to a story that proves the “rule” wrong.

uh….since when do women birth babies through their FEET? I’m really confused….

It’s a very old, very common & very wrong belief.

Ha!!! My grandmother has size 4 feet, was a whopping 90 pounds and only 4′ 10″, and she had 5 children vaginally, including twins. (and all the labors were an hour or less, can you imagine?!)
